Learning through stories (part 10) - Sensory exploration

Many books for babies can be explored with all the senses. Books made from sturdy board, vinyl or fabric can be mouthed, handled or dropped.

Offer your baby books with textures, shapes, mirrors, flaps or holes, or books that make a noise.  Investigating books helps your baby develop the manual dexterity needed to hold a book and turn its pages, and also to learn how to follow words on a page.
