Learning through stories (part 7) - Feelings and emotions

Strong bonds

Story time is a wonderful opportunity for babies to experience two favourite things - being held close and hearing your voice.

Reading out loud, or talking about picture is relaxing for you both. Your baby will come to associate books with warmth and security they feel when cuddled up with you.

Sharing emotions

Sharing stories helps your baby begin to understand and express feelings and learn about others' feelings - the start of empathy. Comment on characters' emotions.

Do they look sad or happy?

Communicate emotions through your own voice and facial expressions.
